Battery Management System (BMS): Braconid

  • A Battery Management System ensures safe operations, improves performance, extends battery life is a module has the following functions – cell protection and passenger safety- ensures the system works in the Safe operating Area, calculates the State of Charge (SOC), State of Health (SOH) -calculates the life of battery and cell balancing

  • Features of the system

    • Centralized Architecture and Cell configuration: 7S-14S

    • Supports different cell chemistries: LFC, NMC

    • Maximum Voltage is 60V and continuous current of 60A(with heat sink) and peak current of 150A for 30secs

    • Current Sense-Shunt and Current Sense on Low side

    • Power Control through High Side MOSFETs

    • Peak Pre-charge Current of 2.94A, Max pre-charge current of 500ms for 5τ

    • Hardware protections: Input Surge, Short Circuit, Reverse Current-BMS

    • Thermistors for Cells, Ambient and MOSFET temperature measurement

    • Based on 32-Bit ARM MCU -S32K311 with 1MB Program Flash, 128KB-RAM and AFE MC33771CTP -AFE Communication based on SPI

    • Maximum Supported Cells:14, Cell balancing current of 220mA Internal

    • Node Voltage Sense: Pack and Load node

    • CAN interface: CAN FD non-isolated with wake over CAN

    • External Interfaces- 2 Wakeup Inputs @12V & 12V output@2A
